Electronic power steering system-EPS production line success stories

       EPS is assembled by Housing, Sensor, Motor, ECU, Column, etc. The equipment is mainly: Mapro from Spain and Flexlink from Malaysia. 1. Equipment construction and commissioning.

       During the construction stage of the line, IIT and the equipment supplier defined the interface according to predefined standards, and implemented error-proofing, traceability, alarm, parameter control, etc. for each station.
The PLC is shared by several stations, which saves input, but requires high software performance.


2. Interaction and control of key stations.

       In the ECU assembly station, the customer requires Pin Check of the ECU before assembly to prevent the operator from assembling a substandard ECU, such as a crooked pin, etc. Therefore, the equipment supplier needs to use a camera to check whether the pins of the ECU are OK and whether the ECU is a good product. Since it is difficult to communicate with the camera directly to iPlant, but it is a problem for iPlant to collect the inspection results from the camera. In order to solve this problem, iPlant used DT4000 acquisition terminal, through COM serial data and DI/DO signals to achieve the collection of ECU detection results, when the ECU barcode is swept, the device will send the ECU barcode to DT4000 through COM port, when the ECU detection is completed, the device will send DI/DO signals to DT4000, for example DI/DO 1 is detection OK, DI/DO 2 is detection failure, iPlant Server will monitor the serial data and DI/DO signal of DT4000 through Ethernet, when the COM port or DI/DO signal has data, iPalnt will save the ECU barcode and detection result to the database, when the ECU assembly station is ready to assemble the ECU, iPalnt will check the ECU barcode and detection result before the ECU assembly. iPalnt will check if this ECU is a Pin Check qualified part, if not, iPlant will tell the equipment to stop a defective product.


3. Other functions of the production line.

      Bar code printing, audit, material traceability, data traceability on PC, part status check, time synchronization, etc. are all applied. Every time a piece is produced, iPlant will check whether the piece belongs to the current work station according to the barcode and other information, and whether the status is normal. If not, iPlant will prompt the relevant error message on the HMI and stop the machine, and only the pieces with normal status and belonging to the current work station can continue to produce, even if there are defective products, the customer can rework or scrap the piece through iPlant. After production, iPlant will check the unload barcode, production data, etc. to ensure that the parts and production data are one-to-one correspondence. iPlant's error-proof capability greatly reduces the birth of defective products, reduces risk, and also saves production costs.
